Authors Need to Eat

It's true.  That is the real threat to quality literature in the world - all of our authors starving to death.  Without authors, paid or otherwise, we'd eventually run out of things to read, and that makes us all worse off.

So, how do we reconcile these two ideas?  There are probably many solutions -  this is ours
