Manfred Macx

Manfred Macx is a character in Charlie Stross' novel, Accelerando.  Manfred lives in our distant future, and he doesn't work in any sense that we are accustomed to.  Instead, he makes people rich, and sustains himself on their gratitude. 

That is not what we're doing here.  It's not really possible yet - in Manny's world, information moves much more quickly.  You can have an idea today, and see thousands of sentient corporations implementing it orders of magnitude more efficiently than you imagined by tomorrow.

But what Manfred shows us is that you don't have to make a living the same way everyone else does.  The way it has been done is not always the way it has to be done.

What does Charlie Stross think?

You would have to ask him.  Or you could read his blog. We hope he likes what we're doing.  However, his endorsement of the site begins and ends with the permission he gave to use the name from his novel.  No other endorsement is intended, and no other endorsement should be inferred.  He is not connected in any way with the site - we're just fans of his work.
